Proper way to band a High Class BIRMINGHAM ROLLER PIGEON, or any pigeon
that is worth banding. Right handed people. Hold the squab in your right hand with
the birds chest facing yours. Slide the band on the birds leg that is on the left
side,with the birds leg pointing straight back to the rear, so you can read the band
number in this position, when the bird is standing the band will be upside down.
Left handed people the procedure is just the opposite. The proper way to hold a
pigeon. If you are right handed. Place the bird in your right hand, with the birds
chest facing yours, and it's legs between your index and middle fingers. This way
you can pull the birds left leg out, holding it's toes with your left hands thumb
and index fingers, and spin the band with your middle finger, easily reading the
